Brodhead KY

A few years ago, in Brodhead,KY  I made this pretty wreath and had it hanging on our large covered front porch.  On afternoon I went out to sit and work at the table under the wreath.  This hummingbird flew in and hovered over the table.  It was plain to me that he/she wanted me to move.
Silly me, I didn't move, not knowing exactly what the bird wanted.  Later on I took the wreath down to put anothers in it place.  That's when I learned what happened.  The hummer really did want me to move out away from the wreath because they had built their nest in the bottom back of the wreath.  There was plenty of space and an excellent hiding place for a hummingbird and egg(s).  I have been sorry ever since because I didn't fully understand.  After that I hung that wreath up again.  And slowly but surely the nest was disassembled and taken to another area, I'm thinking by hummingbirds.

Today we (I) live in another county and have two hummer feeders up.  Yesterday, I was standing behind the back door just looking outside and a hummingbird was at one of my feeders.  First one I've seen all summer.  We are not blessed with good large trees in our yard, so I felt like I wouldn't see many  but was so glad to see that one.  One had to be coming by earlier because I had to refill one empty.  Hoping to have more in this barren yard (rental property) or I would have it full of trees!  8/15/16.
